Preparing for an assessment

What to expect

Participating in an assessment is not something you do every day. What can you expect from an assessment at EDASCO:

> You will receive a personal invitation by email with more information about the content and the steps in the assessment.

> Make sure you know what the intention is; if necessary, contact the client.

> You will usually be asked to complete online questionnaires in advance; reserve the time for this.

> On the day of the assessment, the program often consists of:

  • individual interview / conversation;

  • capacity tests;

  • one or more practical assignments (depending on the position and context);

  • reflection assignments;

  • concluding meeting in which results are discussed.

> After the assessment, we write a report that is sent to the client after your permission.

A lot of information is available on the internet to prepare yourself for the assessment. For example, you can practice taking tests, for example via ixly.nl/oefentesten or 123test.nl. Not that this will make your scores on the final tests much higher. It does, however, ensure that you know what to expect and that alone usually provides a feeling of peace of mind.

A role play is often part of the assessment. In this you will simulate a concrete situation with an actor that is relevant to the position you are fulfilling or will fulfill. You will be assessed on, for example, your management style or your advisory skills. Keep in mind that it is not about that one perfect solution, it does not exist. It is more important that we get a picture of your approach and skills.

Fit and equipped?

Most importantly: "be yourself" and "do your best".

Make sure you can start the day rested and that you can work with concentration.
